This section provides access to all measurements of vegetation by species or species group made on the Exclosure Transects at the SRER since 2011. Each database is available for download as Excel Workbook files (*xlsx). Data Layouts and Notes as Word files (*docx) are also provided for each database to guide the data use.
The parameters repeatedly measured on the transects and provided below include:
- Cover
- Density
- Grass basal diameter and biomass
Figures associated with these data and showing trends over the years are available at Figures for cover, density, and perennial grass biomass.
Vegetation Transect Coordinates and Ecological Site Designation can be accessed at UTM Coordinates and Ecological Site Designations for the Exclosure Transects.
For more information about the measurement protocols visit Exclosure Transect Measurement Protocols.
The file "exclosure_cover" available below for download includes all measures of cover made on 96 transects since they were established in 2011 in 22 existing livestock exclosures on the SRER.
See the associated 'exclosure_cover_layout' and 'exclosure_cover_notes' files for more information about the data records included in the database, the history of the transects, the cover measurements, and the plant species recorded on the transects.
The file "exclosure_density" available below for download includes all measures of density made on 96 transects& since they were established in 2011 in 22 existing livestock exclosures on the SRER.
See the associated 'exclosure_density_layout' and 'exclosure_density_notes'& files for more information about the data records included in the database, the history of the transects, the density measurements, and the plant species recorded on the transects.
The file "exclosure_basal_diameter" available below for download includes all measures of basal diameter of perennial grasses made on 96 transects since they were established in 2011 in 22 existing livestock exclosures on the SRER. Grass mass is estimated using an allometric equation developed on the Santa Rita Experimental Range, and the value represents the mass produced at the end of the most recent summer growing season.
See the associated 'exclosure_basal_diameter_layout' and 'exclosure_basal_diameter_notes' files for more information about the data records included in the database, the history of the transects, the basal diameter measurements, and the plant species recorded on the transects.
