Organization and Structure

In 1987 the University of Arizona College of Agriculture began administration of the Santa Rita Experimental Range (SRER) from the United States Forest Service.

The SRER is now one of the four Southern Arizona Experiment Stations that are included in the University of Arizona, Arizona Experiment Station system. Consequently, the land is managed as part of the UA’s Agricultural Experiment Station.

A Bunk House, an Education Center, a Lab, and two Cabins are available on the SRER for active research and educational purposes.

All facilities can be reserved online. More information about characteristics, reservation calendars, and policies are available at the Using facilities page.

The SRER provides Research Equipment and Lab Space to support the needs of a variety of research projects.

The Florida Station provides a stable Wi-Fi connection for researchers and visitors Using Facilities while a portable Wi-Fi antenna capable of extending Wi-Fi from the Florida Station is available by request to researchers that need a stable internet connection while working in the field.

The Florida Station Lab Space provides the baseline equipment needs for a variety of ecological research and monitoring projects, can host specialized equipment needs for specific research, and features a small classroom and office space.

For further information about Wi-Fi connections and Lab Space see Research Equipment and Lab Space and visit Using Facilities.
